OUR STORY
Servient brought supervised machine learning to legal work while the rest of the industry was still reviewing documents by hand. In 2009, we were among the first two companies to offer “Predictive Coding,” proving that algorithms could reliably identify relevant files within an eDiscovery collection.
Bringing supervised machine learning to eDiscovery put us years ahead of a reliability problem the legal AI field is now facing. Our results had to hold up in front of regulators, courts, and opposing counsel. For more than a decade we have run AI legal workflows where the accuracy of the process itself is open to challenge. That experience shaped what we believe. Legal AI earns trust only when it is validated rigorously, both in how the process is designed and in how the system performs in production. Too much of today’s legal AI shines in a demo and crumbles under real use. Validation is hard, and it is the discipline we are built on.
